How many Christians here have actually read the His Dark Materials series?

It was interesting how the author portrayed God...I didn't see Him as evil, but weaker than the Church makes him out to be. It was a long time ago, but wasn't he in some sort of stasis chamber that angels were guarding? It was odd that the God portrayed in this book was just an angel, before everything else, and thus declared himself God. I don't agree in anyway, but it is interesting to think what the world could have been like if God was fake.
