IPod Touch Firmware help lol?

Iv downloaded the 3.1.3 firmware off the internet 4 free and then wen i hold down shift and click on update it says "iTunes will updater ur ipod to 3.1.3 software and verify the update with apple" should i still do it or will apple find out im gettin the software 4 free ? cheers in advance
