Did anybody expect favorable reviews of Atlas Shrugged from mainstream movie critics?
I was hoping to find unbiased movie reviews before I went to go see the movie. But it seemed most early reviews were influenced by their author's personal feelings toward the philosophy behind the story. So I drove four hours yesterday to see it in the theater and I was rather disappointed. It felt like I was watching a soap opera in the movie theater. I was hoping for a movie that could present the story in a suspenseful and entertaining manner, while at the same time presenting a clear, convincing argument for the philosophy. But instead it felt like a cheap low budget production (which it was) hoping to make a quick buck off of the loyal fans of the book. Unlike the book, this movie will not influence anyone's political philosophy. And I doubt part 2 and part 3 of this movie will ever be made.
