Fedex says my package was "deliverd at front door", but i dont see any package?

i just orderd an m14 airsoft gun off amazon 3 days ago. i chose 2 day shipping and it takes 1 day to process. it was to be shipped with fedex on the 8th of september, and get to me on the 10th of september. i knew it would also require a signature as amazon specificly told me in the purchase confirmation that i needed an adlut signature. on september 10th at 8:20 in the morning, the package was on the truck for delivery, but i checked again, and again on the tracking that day, and soon enough i got an update on how the messed up my package and said it was shipped to the wrong adress. that was at 5:22pm september 10th. i checked again later, and it said deliverd, so i was anctious to see my package that was "deliverd at front door" then i realized, that nobody could have signed for it at 6:18pm because i was the only one home and i heard nothing. i check the garage, back door, side door, front door, even my shed! and not 1 package at all. now aparently fedex is not coverd by the post office act thing which requires the shipper to take personal responsibility to any lost or misshipped packages. now the gun was only 35 bucks, and the shipping was free with amazon prime. but my weekends plans were based on that gun being here today for weekend airsofting. but now its not, and some lucky guy has my airsoft m14 sitting at his door! i read reviews and found that fedex realy could not care less about this kind of situation, i also read bad reviews about everything because people like to ruin peoples buisiness. has this happend to you? will i get my package and will i need to pay extra for the shipping? and is fedex going to do anything about it? choosing best answer asap!
