My laptop keeps overheating even after being on for 5 mins. Any easy ways of helping it to not overheat?

It's really irritating now. I can't listen to music on here anymore, the most I can do is browse the internet for a few minutes before it turns off. Also it gets hot after a few minutes aswell. I haven't even had the laptop long and it's an Aspire something.. Would appreciate some help on how to cool it down by using some things at home? Danke.
