Opinions on this situation and middle name suggestion?

My first boy was named William for his paternal grandfather and his middle name is Gerald for my mum's ex. Since he has been in her life he has been like a father to me and i don't think you could give him a better compliment. Also what law says he has to have a middle name unless you want him to have one. Rooke Mecdale sounds fine to me, that is only my opinion, but good on you for thinking of your stepfather
